The PGWP can allow eligible graduates to gain Canadian work experience after completing their studies. Eligibility depends on the institution, program, study history, application timing, and current IRCC rules.

Eligible institutions and programs
The study must have been completed at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). Not all DLIs and programs qualify. Certain programs have additional field-of-study and program-length requirements under current IRCC rules.
Duration
PGWP duration ranges from 8 months to 3 years depending on the length and type of the qualifying program.
Path to permanent residence
PGWP experience is commonly used to qualify for the Canadian Experience Class through Express Entry. Language and NOC level requirements still apply.
